I'm so thrilled to have read that our infertility stamp is the first in the world. Portugal doesn't get many firsts, so double joy that infertility takes that place on the stand. I remember so well the buzz & excitemente throughout the whole process. Choosing the design, voting the stamp in the compettion, spreading the word and then getting a glimpse at the final product. You have to have walked in our footsteps to fully understand how much this means to an infertile person.
"In March, 2008, Portugal's postal authority CTT Correios de Portugal, S.A. may have made postal history when it issued the stamp shown on the left. It is thought that this stamp was the first ever stamp specifically issued to raise awareness of the struggles of infertility. In a March, 2008, article in Linn's Stamp News, the de-facto industry standard for philatelic news, suggests that this is, in fact, the first stamp on this topic."
And an interesting piece of trivia: "Louise Brown, the first in vitro baby will turn 30 years old on July 24, 2008. She currently works for Great Britain's Royal Mail postal authority."

Thank you so much for the link to my article. As a family who was able to conceive through in vitro fertilization after 7 years of effort, infertility is fresh on our minds. I'm a proud dad of a soon-to-be 13-year-old!
